The Patriot Defense Hammer starts from a high carbon steel billet blank, precision mill the profile, heat treat to RC50-RC52 for long lasting durability, and finally EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) the hammer hooks in the hardened state to prevent critical tolerance movement. Hammers are then pre-polished and sent off for DLC (Diamond Like Coating, Black), which is a nanocomposite coating that has unique properties of natural diamond low friction, high hardness, and high corrosion resistance.

The PD Sledge Hammer offers shortened single action hooks to produce a very short and crisp single action break. Weight has been increased in key areas to allow more moving mass to impact the firing pin thus increasing the reliability of the firearm igniting primers.  

We recommend a new sear if the round count in SA is more than 2,000 SA drops. Hammer/sear wear together and damage or unsafe conditions can happen if not properly fit together during install. We recommend a competent gunsmith install and fit the hammer/sear interface for safe function. 

 Note: Installation should be done by a competent gunsmith to ensure proper function and safe operation of your firearm.

    Installed this and a 16.5 lb hammer spring. Huge difference in hit pencil test. The 16.5 spring added a lb to DA and .5 to SA. Overall 7DA 2.8SA, very acceptable to fire any primers 9mm the market.

    The hammer hooks allow for a very crisp short break on this hammer a huge improvement over a stock piece, 100% reliable so far with a 14lb spring even on ginex and CCI primers which is allowing for a DA trigger pull that is insane. Highly Recommend.

    If your using anything other than Federal primers means you need a heavy hammer and spring. I’ve been using CCI primers and I had to use a 16.5 pound hammer spring with a Titan hammer. Now with the new Sledgehammer heavy I’ve been able do drop down to a 15.5 pound hammer spring. Dropped 1.7 pound DA and 0.3 pound SA. Happy so far. Plus it’s cheaper than a titan ( that is if you didn’t already buy one
