Patriot Defense CZ Shadow 2 High Palm Swell Brass Aggressive

    Posted by D on Sep 30th 2023

So I was between these high palm swells and a set of Lok. I decided to get these after handling one on a Tanfoglio. The high palm swell is good for my hands and I get a significant better grip. The factory CZ grips are okay. However, I found getting a consistent grip left alot on the table with the factory grip panels. With these, I am able to get a consistent grip as opposed to the stock shadow grips. The grips also helped with the trigger reach. With the stock trigger along with the grips I often would end up dragging my trigger finger along my support hand. The high palm swell fills my shooting hand and makes for a better trigger pull. I do not have large hands by any means, and was debating getting the thin set instead. I am very happy with the palm swells, and several other shooters have gotten hands on these and said similar things about it.

I decided to pick up the aggressive set, with the idea of being able to carefully file down hot spots if required. I am currently living in the south and I am a heavy sweater. Patriot Defense also offered a more aggressive cut for those that want an even more. That being said the aggressive cut had 1 very minor spot I found on my shooting hand, where the grip for the high palm swell is at its highest point. It never cuts into me while shooting, but doing 30 minutes of shot timer draws I had a small friction mark. Nothing too crazy and honestly I'm not going to fike it down, as after a season of shooting it'll be more than fine.

The heavy brass grips bring the balance of the shadow 2 back towards the hand. The shadow is fairly long and being 46.5 oz from the factory, it's a heavy pistol. I let an A class carry optics striker fire shooter use it for a few classes of fire and he loved it. So much that he is debating picking up one for himself. The balance it brings back is better than permanently removing steel from the front if the pistol. As an added benefit, it soaks up factory loaded 115/24/147. I shot blue bullets hand loaded 135's as well and it was like cheating.

I absolutely reccomend these grips if you are on the fence about it.
